How do I borrow a 'Friend' admissions card?

Please inform Reception (via email, phone or in person) at least one day in advance to confirm whether cards are available for your intended visit. Cards will be loaned out on a first come, first served basis and will work in a similar fashion to obtaining temporary access cards.

What do I do on the day?

Collect your reserved card(s) from Reception on the day you intend to visit. Head to the Botanic Garden, present the card(s) at the ticket gate and enjoy!

How long can I borrow a card for?

Cards can be booked out for a maximum of one whole day, to be returned by 09:30 the next morning for other members of the Department to use. If you are borrowing a card over the weekend, the card must be returned on Monday morning.

What happens if I forget to return the card, or lose the card?

If cards are not returned on time, you could be charged the late fee: £6 per card.

If any cards are lost, unfortunately you will be charged the full cost of replacement: £38 per card.

When booking the card(s) from Reception, please provide a general ledger or grant code (if permitted). Without one, the named person booking the cards will be personally liable for any charges incurred.

I'm a student, can I borrow one?

If your University card states that you are part of the Cambridge University Students Union (check the back) you already benefit from free access to the gardens all year round. Otherwise, of course you can borrow one!
