Books in the Colman Library.

What is Click and Collect?

The Click and Collect service enables library users to request items to be retrieved from the Colman Library's holdings. We hope that this service will allow you to access the books that you need as quickly and as safely as possible.

Who can make use of the Click and Collect service?

Members of the Department All members of the Department of Biochemistry.
Undergraduates Undergraduates taking the Medical, Veterinary or Natural Sciences Triposes.
Other University departments Members of other University of Cambridge departments whose work and study requires them to use holdings of the Colman Library.
Others Visiting scientists and students by arrangement with the Secretariat Team.

How do I use the Click and Collect service?

Begin by using the iDiscover system to identify which items you would like to borrow.

To then use the Click and Collect service, please complete the online Click and Collect form to submit your item request. When asked which library you would like to borrow an item from, please select 'Biochemistry - Colman Library' from the dropdown menu.

When can I collect my items?

Once you have received an email confirmation that your requested items are available, they can be collected from the Hopkins Building Reception during the following hours:

  • Monday-Thursday: 08:30-17:00 (closed for lunch 13:00-14:00)
  • Friday: 08:30-16:00 (closed for lunch 13:00-14:00)

For how long can I have items on loan?

During this time, whilst the Colman Library Reading Room is not available, we have revised our timeframes for the return of a book on loan as follows:

  • Classified books: Up to five items may be borrowed at any one time. The loan period is for one week.
  • Part I reference: Up to two items may be borrowed at any one time. The loan period is for one week.

How do I return my items?

Please return your loan items to the Hopkins Building Reception within the timeframe of the loan period.
