Building locations
The Department of Biochemistry is located in two buildings on Tennis Court Road. The Hopkins Building is on the Downing Site, nearer to the city centre, whilst the Sanger Building is on the Old Addenbrooke's Site, nearer to Lensfield Road.
Please contact your host in advance to confirm which building you are visiting. On arrival at the Department, please report to Reception.
Arriving by bus
The main Cambridge bus station is on Drummer Street, half a mile from the Department; see the Google Maps walking route from the bus station to the Hopkins Building or to the Sanger Building. If you prefer to take a taxi, there is a taxi rank next to the bus station.
Arriving by train
Our nearest train station is Cambridge (Central), one mile from the Department; see the Google Maps walking route from the train station to the Hopkins Building or to the Sanger Building. If you prefer to take a taxi, there is a taxi rank immediately outside the train station.
Driving into Cambridge
This is not recommended because of severe traffic problems, confusing one-way systems, and very expensive parking charges. Instead, there are a number of Park and Ride sites with regular bus services into the city centre.
There is limited parking available for visitors of the Department, but you will need to contact your host in advance to arrange this. Alternatively, the nearest public parking facility is the Grand Arcade car park.
