Steve Jackson wins the Gagna A. & Ch. Van Heck Prize.

The Gagna A. & Ch. Van Heck Prize of 75,000 Euros is awarded every three years to a scientist or a physician whose work has contributed to the treatment of a currently incurable disease, or has provided an outstanding contribution to basic research resulting in such discovery. This Prize was awarded for the first time in 2003 and represents one of the most prestigious Belgian scientific prizes in the biomedical field.

For 2015, this Prize is awarded to Professor Steve Jackson of the Gurdon Institute, who is a member of the Department, for his cardinal contributions related to cellular events that detect, signal the presence of, and repair DNA damage.

The Prize will be awarded by the Fonds de la Recherche Scientifique at the University Foundation in Brussels in the presence of the British Ambassador to Belgium.
