The Titan Krios microscope

We are very happy to announce that the installation of our Titan Krios cryo-electron microscope has finally been completed.

The new microscope has passed all site acceptance tests, and the optics, electronics and mechanics are performing well within their required specifications. We have already acquired a test dataset with the Falcon 3 EC detector, which extends to 3.9 angstrom resolution.

The Cryo-Electron Microscopy Consortium would like to thank all involved in the installation, particularly Alan Boswell (Thermo Fisher Scientific) and the Biochemistry Department support staff (Simon Quick, Roger Biamonti, Tom Mayle and Mark Tomlin).

If you wish to use the new instrument, please email  with the subject line "Titan Krios Beamtime Request".
