Department of Biochemistry

LUMICKS collaborates with AstraZeneca and our Department to form the Centre of Excellence for Dynamic Single-Molecule Analysis for Accelerated Drug Discovery and Biology.

The Department of Biochemistry welcomes enquiries from industry to discuss possibilities for collaborative work. The Department is the largest in the School of Biological Sciences at the University of Cambridge, with a research portfolio that covers a broad array of interconnected themes. As a result, members of faculty collectively possess a breadth of expertise that is difficult to find elsewhere. This scale is of huge benefit, particularly for challenging projects requiring input from several complementary disciplines.

Partnering can take many forms, from short-term consultancy through to long-term experimental support. Confidentiality and intellectual property issues are typically, though not exclusively, managed through the University's technology transfer arm, Cambridge Enterprise. Members of faculty are familiar with industrial, milestone-driven approaches and several have formed successful spin-outs. The Department is therefore well-placed to support external organisations in their search for novel solutions.
