Cambridge Biochemistry Awards 2023

2023 has been a wonderful year for the Department with some remarkable achievements by our students and faculty.

Søren Hough was sole recipient of the Glover Research Award 2023, awarded to a recent PhD graduate based on scientific merit.

Jeanne Salje, Group Leader in Bacterial Cell Biology, was appointed Fellow of the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology.

Kathryn Lilley, Professor of Cellular Dynamics, was elected to membership in Academia Europaea following a rigorous peer review process. She joins over 5000 eminent scholars from across Europe.

Paul Dupree, Professor in Plant Cell Biology, was elected a member of EMBO in recognition of his important work over many years on plant cell wall biosynthesis and assembly. Paul was also a highly cited researcher for 2022 for the sixth consecutive year.

Steve Jackson, Frederick James Quick Professor of Biology, received a knighthood in the King’s birthday honours for his services to innovation and research. Steve was a highly cited researcher for 2022, as he has been in every year since 2019.

Eric Miska, Herchel Smith Chair of Molecular Genetics and Head of Department, was elected as a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences for his pioneering work on gene regulation through RNA.
