Lilley Soapbox

Prof Kathryn Lilley took to a soap box in the Market Square on Saturday 2nd July along with 11 other female researchers from Cambridge and attempted to tell the public what it is we do in my lab aided by only 5 painter lady butterflies, 5 caterpillars and some wonderful amino acid jigsaw puzzle pieces made by Tom Mayle in photography. Children pretended to be ribosomes and made proteins by reading off a 'code' using the jigsaw pieces.

The aim of the event was to raise public awareness of female scientists and inspire the younger generations.
