£1.1M award for the synthetic biology of novel agrochemicals based on natural products
The BBSRC has announced a five year Strategic Longer and Larger Grant (sLoLa) to Peter Leadlay, to apply the methods of synthetic biology to refactor naturally modular assembly-line enzymes in micro-organisms that produce bioactive natural products. The aim is to produce safe and effective agrochemicals by sustainable methods. This funding is part of a £4.5M sLoLa awarded to a consortium of four Universities (Bristol, Cambridge, Manchester and Warwick) in collaboration with Syngenta plc.
