The second year PhD students took part in the annual two-day poster presentation sessions on 1st and 2nd October 2015. The general quality of the posters was exceptionally high - both in terms of the superb science content and the presentational style used in the posters. Indeed, the calibre of the science was of a standard equivalent to that seen in major international meetings. This made it very difficult indeed for the judges (postdoctoral researchers and staff) to differentiate between the candidates when scoring their posters. However, 9 students were finally awarded prizes on the basis of the summary of the independent scores of the judges. Congratulations to all the students who took part in the meeting and a major thanks to all of the volunteer judges and to the departmental members who visited the posters and provided valuable feedback to the students. As ever, the organisational support from Christine Thulborn and members of the photographic unit was excellent. We thank NEB and STARLAB for their generous support for prizes, along with departmental awards.
