Joined the lab: January 2014
Background and Current Projects: At undergraduate level I studied biological applications and technologies at the University of Ioannina in Greece. I received my M.Sc in Biotechnology at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. During my undergraduate studies and post-graduate thesis I worked on projects related to molecular microbiology and plant biology but also became interested in therapeutic protein technology. In particular, I wanted to learn more about the discovery and optimization of therapeutic proteins, such as antibodies, so after my studies I did an internship in a Belgian biotech company focused on antibody drug discovery.
Before I joined Florian's group in January 2014, I also worked at Medimmune, Cambridge. My PhD is a collaboration between our group and Medimmune. During my PhD I would like to develop and apply new methods of directed in vitro evolution to circumvent current limitations in therapeutic protein optimization.
